Note that a good chunk of the episodes reported (basically all those directed to punish to political dissent) are done in favour of Israel, not the US. Which adds a twist to the police state- one that punishes dissent towards a different state is something seen only under military occupation.
It's unnerving that it's basically played out in the way everyone said it would and yet it feels like we're powerless to stop it.
