How is it not? For millions of people, church is a cornerstone institution they build their lives from (besides family and work). It's how they form social connections, support and are supported, care for one another through hard times, find spouses, and find meaning in life.
You don't have to agree with Christianity's beliefs to see that churches are and have been helpful to a huge number of people.
