Russian and American home-grown info wars are proving successful. The pro-fascist has been groomed for a long time, the anti- was detaching for a long time.
In some ways, I agree and in others, we’re still very far away from it. Germany had extra-judicial killing squads terrorizing communities, that still seems very far away for us.
If he does send troops to Chicago as he says he intends to, the court challenges are going to be critical.
well, our "best friend and ally" who gets free money and weapons (including nukes) is doing it. A very slippery slope to be allied with a regime that's been overtaken by ultraorthodox maniacs, and it's also bad for Jews everywhere.
Don't leave the UK out of your criticism. Free speech there can be rewarded with jail time. And don't leave out the dystopian Big Tech surveillance ... here come the downvotes. Sure you guys are all making six figures or more, but what is the price? Guilty until proven innocent surveillance, unreasonable search and seizure. Unconstitutional, anti-American theft of communications.
Or, perhaps saved as a time stamp of the state of political discourse in the us. Those who do not know history are unaware when they repeat it. And the communication alternatives available to the central government are far, far more pervasive than the radio-and-newspapers of the last century.
Those who say there’s nothing to worry about look suspiciously like those profiting from it (or encouraging it). A whole lot of stuff is being done differently than before and there will be mid to long term damage from it. Damage to the r&d mechanism, for example, might be generational. And for better or worse world trade is being rearranged.
> American fascism looks like the would-be self-proclaimed king deploying the military on US soil not only not in response to requests by local or state officials but over — and almost specifically to spite — their vociferous objections.

Today's situation seemed very far away from us 6 months ago.
But also not at all surprising to those of us that were paying attention 6 months ago (or, more accurately, for the past decade).
I'm continually shook that America voted for the man that explicitly said he was going to be a dictator.
Only if you don't think brown people are people. There is whole Wikipedia page: Detention and deportation of American citizens in the second Trump administration https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detention_and_deportation_of_A...
ps. Facism is not defined by amount of violence.

Which facts in it are incorrect, would you say?
