An obvious maxim. However, the full statement is "Privacy empowers YOU, but surveillance weakens YOU." Thus, to the enemy of the people, surveillance is a great weapon. Enemies of the people are typically an elite ruling class. To me, surveillance is generally applied to oppress opportunity, e.g. contemporary cancel culture, bad jacketing, or blacklisting.
You will never live in a world where everyone minds their own business. Never. And the government is not the only eavesdropper. Idiot. The commercial market that sells to the gov or anyone else like a fish market. Those new era private interest groups consuming your data, whether Cambridge Analytics or Mossad or whoever want a stake in your ass.
A culture of vigilance, competence, and distributed sensibilities are your only hope.
Stop acting like a lame duck and see your life of obeyed self privilege as the lie.
Paranoia and self awareness empower, surveillance means you might be worth observing.
It would be against nature to say anyone could not simply use the openly available intelligence tools to observe anyone for any reason at any time (that does not violate a private barrier of some kind.)

I tell you you’re idiots.

To me, the amazing part is how contradictory CSAM and GDPR are and few seem to be pointing this out.
Isn't personal privacy the overriding objective of GDPR?
Isn't the effective result of the proposed CSAM to eliminate personal privacy?
Over time, laws tend to approach the point where everyone is a criminal.
Does it?

You are self responsible!
