This is happening all across healthcare. My eye doctor got bought by some PE firm, and now they want all sorts of tests for conditions I don't have the symptoms of or they say they won't see me any more. Orthopedics is also in the crosshairs. At least my dentist is still practitioner owned.
Screw those who coast on reputation others have built. We should also get notified of SaaS/other tools which got sold to be added to a holding company portfolio with 15 "competitors". Then changelogs for a given product's quality/performance, like lower quality food ingredients or quality electronics replaced with generic crap.
The about page does mention only public data is used, but the map is missing an office I used to go to got bought out. They started pushing 3D x-rays every visit despite not being covered by insurance, and other unnecessary operations and add-ons. Ugh.
Nice tool. I regularly see posts on subreddits for nearby towns from people inquiring about the best or most affordable dental services in my area. This will help me steer them to dentists who have not yet sold out, like mine.
