Last time I checked India was still ramping up it's coal plants during the day to meet demand during sunlight hours.
Presumably this development means they reached a point when they run consistently, which is more efficient even before you account for the peak demand being replaced by solar.
Indeed, their solar PV deployment rate is much higher than expected; batteries need to follow fast to destroy coal generation demand.
