in the US we have a patchwork of "verbal contract" laws.
campaign promises should be held to verbal contract and elections interference by inducement.
i.e. if you vote for me i promise you the world, some cheques, and a lot of ugly people will be gone.
promise but dont keep it, would be breach verbal contract. promise to [x] if you vote for me, would be inducement interference.
discuss the problem, discuss the solution, no more populist promises
