I'm not sure a multi-year deal was too wise, considering how the front runner in AI seems to be changing constantly. Not that Apple would want their foundation models to change constantly, but rather that 2 years out is completely unpredictable and locking in with one vendor could leave them in a similar place of everyone viewing Siri as sub-par.
